Bianca Andreescu won a BIG title today. Very well done, girl – congrats. We played the same tournaments several times, but hardly knew each other.
I remember Canada’s team of my generation: Bianca (born 2000) of Romanian origin. Alexandra Gorchanyuk (2001) and Sofia Babich (2000), originally are from Ukraine… Several Spanish-roots girls, do not remember names.
They all feel themselves like home in Canada. They all are Canadians, playing for their red-white flag & maple leaf. They knew that their federation & their country backed them every minute, with no difference what look they have & what language they speak at home.
I asked my parents to contact Canadian tennis federation several years ago, when I was a refugee, and ask whether it is possible to move to Canada. People from Canada even answered – but said it is too complicated… Yes, I understand this, I was never a rising star to fight for.
But maybe – just maybe – one day I will move to this country, with or without tennis. We will see.
P.S. There where no new contributions – you can make one here. Thank you! No big hopes though – just in case you are so crazy to donate one cup of your morning tea/coffee worth to a girl who desperately try to stay in professional tennis – not by attracting sponsors, but to creating a small business to finance her tennis career by her own hands.
